This article is for users who see the above message after importing an external UBL file (.xml). OkiOki validates these files but does not edit them; any errors must be fixed in the software that created the document.

• UBLs from other tools are not corrected; they must be 100 % valid when you upload them.

1. Open the file in a text or XML editor and review the items under Most common causes.
2. Test the file with a free Peppol validator: Ecosio (select rule set “OpenPeppol UBL Invoice (2024-11) – BIS Billing 3.0.18”), B2BRouter, or Helger.
3. Note the error message or download the validator report.

In 95 % of cases, the report points to the exact line you need to fix.

What to send your vendor

1. The original .xml file – needed to reproduce the issue.
2. The validator report or error code – shows the failing line or field.
3. The name and version of your invoicing or accounting software.

Most common causes

1. Missing or incorrect data
   VAT number, country code, totals, dates (YYYY-MM-DD)…
   
   
2. Wrong Peppol version
   In the cbc:CustomizationID element, the value must be exactly:

   urn:cen.eu:en16931:2017#compliant#urn:fdc:peppol.eu:2017:poacc:billing:3.0

   Only Peppol BIS Billing 3.0.x invoices and credit notes can be sent.
